With talks among fans wanting Sarawak to take action to strengthen their side with the June transfer window opening soon, we caught up with Sarawak defender, Davide Grassi, to hear his thoughts on rumours that he might be shown the exit when the transfer window opens.
The 30-year old Grassi told us that he was very happy to be playing with Sarawak, and that he was hoping that the rumours are not true, adding that he has not heard anything concrete about him being replaced.
The experienced defender added that he is very happy at Stadium Negeri, and that his family loves Sarawak a lot. Grassi explained that aside from the amazing fans in Sarawak, the players have been also very nice and friendly to him, helping him out whenever needed.
When we asked him about several fans asking for him to be dropped during the June transfer window, Grassi said that “Football is like that. Some fans don’t like me, and some do. Either way, I will continue to improve my performance“.
The Italian defender added that previously, the Crocs had problems scoring, and that issue seems to be resolved now with the team scoring goals. The defences have also shown more promise, leaking only one goal in the past two games, with the only goal scored via a penalty kick, which Grassi said, shouldn’t have been given.
When asked about why he plays hard on the pitch, Grassi said that he is passionate about playing for Sarawak and he will always give 100 percent on the pitch. He reasoned that the fans and club deserve every effort, and he will give his best in every game. He further stressed that he believes he has a lot more to contribute to Sarawak, and looks forward to a very successful season with the Crocs, including in the coming Malaysia Cup.
Grassi has spent six month with the Crocs up to now, and has earned praised for his high work rate on the pitch. His commanding presence at the heart of Sarawak defenses has given the Crocs the much needed ‘shield’ when breaking down attacks.
Despite that however, several fans have been critical over the defences of the Crocs and put the blame of Grassi whom is the only foreign defender in the current squad.
