Bung Moktar removes himself as SAFA president

Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has resigned as the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) president.

The decision takes effect on January 8, 2023.

According to an article by The Star, the move was made as Bung wanted to focus more on his political career.

Bung has held SAFA’s presidency since June 2021 and is seen as one of the main figures which had brought Sabah football back into life with Sabah’s top club, Sabah FC, now doing very well in the Liga Super.

The Star further elaborated that Bung had said that he was happy with what Sabah FC had achieved under his tenure as SAFA president.

With Bung Moktar now out of the picture, the race to replace him in SAFA is now anyone’s guess.

However, many Sabah football fans are hoping his replacement will be someone that can continue to push Sabah football into greater heights.
