Kuching FA frustrated with MFL’s decision to promote Perlis

Kuching FA has expressed it is dissapointed with the Malaysia Football League’s (MFL) decision to award Perlis Nothern Lions the special promotion to the Liga Super.

According to a news report carried out by Utusan Borneo, Kuching FA had expressed such sentiment through its assistant team manager Iswand Ali Hassan.

Iswand was reported to also question how MFL selected Perlis for the promotion when the organizers of the Malaysian League had previously said that they would not allow teams with salary arrears to play in the Liga Premier.

In a recent statement, MFL had confirmed that Perlis had outstanding salary issues and Perlis had been given 60 days to settle the issue as part of the terms of their special promotion to the second tier football league in Malaysia.

Iswand further elaborated that what was further more disappointing was the fact that MFL had rejected Kuching’s application despite the fact that the team didn’t have any management problems.

Despite the disappointment, Iswand claimed that Kuching will nonetheless accept the decision of MFL and focus their attention towards the Piala FAM.

He also vowed to not let the decision hamper the spirit of Kuching for 2019, adding Kuching would take their failure to get into the Liga Premier through the special promotion in a positive manner.

Kuching was one of the few teams applying for the special promotion to the Liga Premier offered by MFL this year.

The special promotion had to be done following the withdrawal and suspensions of several teams in the Liga Super and Liga Premier for next season.

In light of their application to join the Liga Premier, Kuching had bolstered their side with former Sarawak FA players which include Hairol Mokhtar and Dzulazlan Ibrahim.  The side had previously also said it is considering foreign players.
