Kuching City FC delivered a statement performance in the Malaysia FA Cup, defeating Kelantan Red Warrior FC 5-1 at the Stadium Bolasepak Kuala Lumpur, Cheras, on Tuesday night.
The emphatic victory saw The Cats complete a 5-1 aggregate triumph over KRW FC in the Round of 16, following the goalless draw in the first leg in Kota Bharu.
Kuching City wasted little time making their dominance count.
Dylan Wenzel-Halls opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Safawi Rasid doubled the advantage in the 20th minute, giving Kuching City a commanding 2-0 lead at the interval.
The second half continued in much the same fashion as Kuching City maintained pressure on the KRW defence.
Mazwan Che Mat pulled one back for Kelantan Red Warrior in the 65th minute, briefly giving the visitors hope of a comeback.
However, Kuching City quickly restored their two-goal advantage when Wanja Ronald Ngah converted a penalty in the 69th minute.
The Cats then put the result beyond doubt through Kaishu Yamazaki, who added Kuching City’s fifth goal in the 79th minute to complete a convincing 5-1 victory.
The result represents another strong showing from Aidil Sharin Sahak’s side, who entered the FA Cup second leg in confident form after recording a 2-0 victory over Sabah FC in the Super League just three days earlier.
It was also a significant response from Kuching City after KRW FC frustrated them with a 0-0 draw in the first leg on 1 September.
With the aggregate score finishing 5-1 in favour of Kuching City, The Cats now advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals, keeping their hopes of another deep cup run firmly alive. – SarawakCrocs
