Sabah FC must remain calm and disciplined when they face early pressure from Selangor FC in the second leg of their Malaysia FA Cup Round of 16 tie at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) tonight.

Sabah FC head coach Juan Torres Garrido expects Selangor to start aggressively after the two sides played out a 2-2 draw in the first leg at Likas Stadium on September 2.

Garrido has urged The Rhinos to remain focused, confident and committed to their game plan against The Red Giants.

He expects Selangor to use their home advantage to control the match and look for an early goal.

Sabah FC Must Strengthen Their Defence

Garrido also stressed the importance of communication and understanding among his players from the opening minutes to avoid mistakes that Selangor could punish.

With the team facing a congested schedule, physical and mental recovery has also become a key focus for the Sabah coaching staff.

At the same time, the team has been working on its defensive organisation after conceding twice against Selangor in the first meeting.

Garrido acknowledged the quality of Selangor’s individual players in creating those goals, but wants his players to be more clinical in taking advantage of their opponents’ mistakes.

Sabah FC Target More Goals

With the tie still evenly poised following the 2-2 draw in Likas, Sabah FC will need a positive result away from home to keep their Malaysia FA Cup campaign alive.

Garrido stressed that his players must be better organised in attack, maintain their confidence and ensure they score at least one more goal than Selangor.
