Sabah FC suffer home defeat to DPMM FC

Sabah FC were forced to accept a 1-2 defeat to Brunei DPMM FC in the 2026/27 Malaysia Super League at Likas Stadium, as the visitors returned to Kota Kinabalu with three valuable points.

The Matchday 4 encounter started at a high tempo, with DPMM FC opening the scoring in the 12th minute through their central defender, Ebenezer Abban.

Abban, who was part of DPMM’s three-man defensive unit involved in building attacks from the back, found himself in the right position to finish the opportunity and give the visitors an early 1-0 lead.

In the 26th minute, Gonzalo Di Renzo brought Sabah FC back into the game when the Argentine forward produced the equaliser with a powerful strike from inside the DPMM penalty area.

Both teams continued to push for an additional goal after the restart as the second half began with the score level at 1-1.

DPMM FC eventually found the decisive second goal through Murray, whose long-range strike in the 65th minute changed the course of the match.

The goal restored DPMM’s 2-1 advantage, and this time Sabah FC were unable to produce a strong enough response to find an equaliser before the final whistle.
