The Sarawak SUKMA futsal team created history by winning the silver medal for the futsal event in SUKMA today.
The team played against Selangor in front of a full house at the Kota Samarahan Indoor Stadium, but home advantage failed to help as Selangor scored twice to win the gold medal of the competition.
Selangor took an early lead in the match by stunning the home crown in the first minute of play.
They doubled the score in the second half, with Sarawak unable to find a way though the tight defences of the Klang Valley boys.
Despite that, fans were delighted to see the fighting spirit shown by the Sarawak futsal team and were also pleasently surprised to learn that it was the first time Sarawak won a silver medal in futsal.
In other macthes, Perak clinched the bronze medal in the competition after defeating Pulau Pinang 5-3 at the same venue.
