Two Thai football teams await the Sarawak women’s SUKMA football team in coming days as the team flies to Thailand for a couple of friendly matches.
SUKMA stands for Sukan Malaysia (Malaysian Sports), which will be held in Kuching from 17 to 20 August 2024.
According to BERNAMA’s report, the Sarawak women’s SUKMA football team matches will be played from July 20th to 24th in Bangkok.
These matches are to prepare the women’s SUKMA football team for their SUKMA challenge.
The teams which will meet Sarawak are Jaifa Academy and Jap Phon Plem, with Sarawak expected to meet their Under-21 teams.
Checks online reveal that Jaifa Academy is a well followed football academy with programs for kids from as young as 7 years of age. They have a Facebook page that has over 20,000 followers and are owned by the Athon Prachanath Foundation.
No information however was found about Thai outfit Jap Phon Plem.
For the record, the Sarawak women’s SUKMA football team consist of players aged 16 to 21 years, with the team placed in Group A of the Women’s football competition.
Other teams in Group A are Sabah and Pahang, with Group B consisting of Selangor, Penang and the Federal terretories.
The SUKMA women’s football event is sceduled to start on August 13th and will be played at Stadium Negeri and Padang D in Petra Jaya, Kuching.
