Sarawak government to ‘help’ FAS find president

The Sarawak Government will ‘help’ the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) shall the association continue to find it difficult to appoint a new president.

Sarawak Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the Sarawak government would advice FAS on who they could appoint as a new president, adding that he does not mean that FAS would literally start interfering in FAS affairs.

Abdul Karim further elaborated that the word ‘advice’ that he used meant that the Sarawak Government would just advise FAS on who would be the best candidate for the hottest seat in Sarawak football.

FAS is currently in a deadlock for a new president after Datu Sudarasono Osman decline renomination in the just concluded General Meeting.

Several names have been brought up, but all have either declined the post, or denied they were even interested in holding it.

Interestingly, Abdul Karim is also one of the few names mentioned to be the next FAS President as well, and his comments might be an indication that he might just be the next man for the job.
