Liga Super side Sabah FC continued their fine run in the Liga Super as they collected the full three points against Penang FC over the weekend.
The teams coached by Ong Kim Swee were able to win 2-1 in a match which saw The Rhinos lead by two goals at half time.
In the post-match interview, Ong Kim Swee praised his players for a job well done.
The experience head coach said that the points tonight were important, and that they had played better in the first half of the game.
he also attributed the single goal of Penang to a lapse in concentration by his players.
Despite that, his players were able to withstand Penang’s attack and were able to secure the important win.
“Three important points in which we played well for both halves especially in the first half.
“We a little bit distracted in the second half and leaked some goals but we managed to defend our lead until the end.” Kim Swee said after the match.
“We should not have been distracted and having the opponent score had given us some pressure.
“However, we were able to withstand their attacks and were able to retain our lead until the end.” he added.
Kim Swee also made it a point to state that he doesn’t care about the number of goals scored, as long as it translates into a win for his side.
“I don’t care about the number of goals and look for the win for the full three points.” Kim Swee elaborated.
Meanwhile, Penang coach Manzoor Azwira said that his team’s lapse in concertation gave Sabah the advantage for the night and Sabah had better individual quality in comparison to his side.
“I’m disappointed. We had a lapse in concertation in the first half, and we tried to score in the second half.” Mansoor said after the match.
” Sabah has better individual quality if compared to us, but we still try and we fight on. We will play in a positive manner, and this is something positive.
“Sabah is top five material in the Liga Super. I hope when we meet mid-table teams, we can get the full points.” he added.\
Sabah will play Kuching City for their Piala Malaysia match next.
