Sabah fans disapprove Sabah FA’s mascot ‘Tambadau’

Sabah FA underwent a re-branding exercise over the weekend as the the new Sabah FA management decided to do away with their traditional ‘Rhino’ mascot.

The new mascot, known as ‘Tembadau’ was unveiled during the recent jersey launch of the Liga Premier team.

While the new mascot does looks like a rhino at first glance, it is actually a bull (known as Tembadau).  The new mascot therefore makes Sabah the second team to adopt the bull as Perak FA had traditionally used the bull as their mascot and are called ‘The Seladangs’.

As you can see below, the Sabah mascot looks fierce and it also comes with a slogan “Biar tunduk, tapi menanduk” which loosely translates to “We may bow, but we will strike”.

On social media, Sabah football fans don’t seem keen with the idea of the new mascot with many taking to social media about their displeasure.

For us at SarawakCrocs, we still prefer Sabah to be known as The Rhinos, but our opinion does count for nothing when it comes to these things.
