Miri has been crowned the nw champions of the Piala Sarawak after they defeated Bintulu in an exciting match at Stadium Mukah today.
The win meant that Miri ended their 18 year wait to win the coveted cup, with 1999 being the last time the division won the crown.
During the intense match, both teams failed to score, forcing the match into extra time.
The score remained goal-less after the full extra time, and both Miri and Bintulu had to decide the winner through a penalty shoot-out which Miri won by a 5-4 margin.
As champions of the Piala Sarawak, Miri take home RM18,000 in prize money, while runners-up Bintulu take home RM12,000.
