Kuching FA wins match, but fails bid to enter Liga Premier

Kuching FA is one of those teams that could brag about their fairy tale journey in the Malaysian league system.

The were crowned champions of the inaugural Liga Bolasepak Rakyat (LBR) in 2016, and their first stint in the Liga FAM, Malaysia’s third top football league saw them advance into the quarter finals.

Not many teams can boast of such an achievement within two years, but Kuching FA, a team from Sarawak did it, and now, their season has ended on a high note, despite not being able to move to the Liga Premier next season.

Last night, the Cats won their second leg quarter finals against UKM FC, but their 1-0 win against the Selangor side wasn’t enough to overturn the 2-0 deficit they collected during the first leg in Kuching last weekend.

Sufizal Ismail scored the only goal of the game last night, giving UKM FC a 2-1 win based on aggregate, and hence advancing UKM FC into the semi finals.

For Kuching FA, the journey this season has ended on a high note, and they can start preparations for next season with hope they would secure that Liga Premier promotion. – SarawakCrocs.com
