Kuching City FC’s aspirations to maintain pressure on Selangor FC for the runner-up spot in the 2025/2026 Malaysia Super League hit a significant snag tonight after they were held to a 2-2 draw against Brunei DPMM FC.

This away result means the Cats were forced to settle for a single point, effectively dampening the brilliant momentum they had established following their dominant 4-1 victory over PDRM FC in the middle of last month.

Despite entering the match as favorites due to their stellar form this season compared to a mid-table DPMM FC side, the fierce resistance from the hosts proved that there are no easy paths in the remaining league fixtures.

Both teams traded attacks throughout the ninety minutes of play before ultimately being forced to share the spoils.

This failure to collect the full three points has immediate consequences for the Super League standings.

While Johor Darul Ta’zim has already been confirmed as champions with an impenetrable 61 points from an undefeated run, the battle for second remains tense. Selangor FC currently holds the silver position with 46 points, leaving Kuching City FC in third place with 44 points, trailing the Red Giants by a narrow two-point margin.
