Sarawak football fans were left wondering yesterday after two of the import players of Sarawak FA failed to even make the bench.
Rian Firmansyah of Pontianak Indonesia, and Ronald Hikspoors of Holland were not listed in the 19 strong men which was listed by Anai Igang against Negeri Sembilan yesterday.
Rian who broke history to be the first Pontianak lad to play for Sarawak FA was said to be a very talented midfielder. With Sarawak team advisor Awang Mahyan saying they would only take imports that are above local talent, many had high hopes that Rian would rule the Sarawak midfield during the opening game.
Hikspoors on the other hand is known for his hardwork on the pitch and was one of the star performers when he was first brought into the team by Ducth coach Robert Alberts.
That said, the absence of both import players brings along a mystery why they couldn’t be featured despite being classed as “imports”.
Maybe Anai is reserving the duo for the second game week of the Liga Premier, but many seems to believe a draw against Negeri Sembilan was possible if the duo played.
Sarawak fell to Negeri Sembilan yesterday by 2-1.
