Brunei DPMM FC used the 2026 President’s Cup in Indonesia as part of their preparations for the 2026/27 Malaysia Super League season, with Jamie McAllister’s side playing three competitive matches against opponents from Singapore and Indonesia.

DPMM FC opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Tampines Rovers on July 25, 2026, at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung.

In the match, the Brunei side recovered after Hide Higashikawa put Tampines ahead in the second minute.

Azwan Ali Rahman equalised in the 47th minute before Oscar Santis put DPMM FC 2-1 ahead in the 59th minute. However, Faris Ramli levelled the score for Tampines in the 71st minute to ensure the two teams shared the points.

In their second match, DPMM FC faced a tougher challenge against Persib Bandung, suffering a narrow 0-1 defeat on July 28. The match remained tightly contested, with DPMM keeping Persib at bay throughout the first half.

Persib eventually broke the deadlock in the 75th minute through Balša Sekulić to secure victory for the home side.

DPMM FC then concluded their Group A campaign with a 0-2 defeat to Arema FC on July 31.

Gustavo Henrique was the difference-maker for Arema, scoring both goals in the first half, in the 35th minute and during stoppage time.

DPMM were also reduced to 10 men after Felipe Aspegren received a second yellow card in the 61st minute. Despite being a man down, the Brunei side attempted to fight back in the second half and created several opportunities but failed to find the net.

Overall, DPMM FC ended the tournament with one draw and two defeats, scoring two goals and conceding five.

Although the results were not ideal, the three high-intensity matches provided McAllister with a valuable opportunity to assess his squad, test different player combinations and evaluate the team’s readiness ahead of the new Malaysia Super League season.

The experience of facing Tampines Rovers, Persib Bandung and Arema FC should prove useful for DPMM FC, particularly in strengthening their defensive organisation, finishing and ability to protect leads.

DPMM FC finished bottom of Group A with one point and failed to advance to the semi-finals.
