Sarawak FA B (under-21) lost to Perak FA B yesterday in the Piala Presiden Group B match.
Perak won through the match’s only goal in the 15 minute which saw the Sarawak defences fail to clear a loose ball in the box.
Despite the defeat, Sarawak’s head coach Jalil Ramli commended his side’s performances particularly in the second half.
According to Jalil, his team gave Perak too much room in the first half and lacked numerical advantage when attacking.
However, the second half of the match was a different ball game entirely as his young players started attacking Perak from both flanks and almost equalized on numerous occasions if not from the brilliance of Syakir Danial which guarded Perak’s goal like a fortress.
Perak responded with some equally good attacks but the defences of Sarawak held tight with Mohd Ikhmarruddin Jais particularly showing impressive progress as a central defender.
Jalil noted that this is only Ikhmarruddin’s second full game and the youngster is already proving his worth as a regular player.
In a post match comment, Jalil admitted that he thought a draw would better justify the match as the team really performed in the second half.
