Cheng Ho reveals key traits for neutralized Malaysian players

Malaysia head coach Tan Cheng Ho has revealed two key traits for a player to be neutralized as a Malaysian football player.

The experience head coach told Stadium Astro that “discipline and knowing how Malaysians play” is key to being neutralized and chosen to play for the Malaysian national football team.

Cheng Ho was reported as saying that he does not want players who have discipline problem, adding that these neutralized players should be professional and highly disciplined because they would be an example to the local players.

Cheng Ho also said that the move to neutralize foreign football players for Malaysia would only help the country in a short run and the national team still needs the locals to step up and be given priority in the team.

He also hoped that Malaysia would be able to have a quality all local team in the future.

The comments by Cheng Ho come as the Football Association of Malaysia plans to neutralize more players to help boost the country’s FIFA World Ranking.

Currently Mohamadou Sumareh is the only neutralized footballer.
