WCQ: Malaysia 1-2 UAE

Malaysia failed to win the game against UAE tonight but a much brushed performance saw Harimau Malaya go down fighting with UAE unable to score the big win that everyone expected.

The game which was played on a wet field saw Malaysia enforcing a very discipline game play with Ong Kim Swee toeing the bylines to ensure his men kept to the game plan.

In the 21st minute Omar Abdulrahman of UAE curled in the first goal of the match thanks to a mistake from the Malaysian defenses.

The visiting side doubled their tally in the 52nd minute through Ahmed Khalil but Badrol Bakhtiar pulled one back for the homesters with a glancing header six minutes later.

Badrol’s goal was a morale booster for the home team as they tried to push for the equalizer.

Nonetheless, despite four minutes of extra time, the Malaysians failed to break UAE’s defences, and the score stood at 2-1 for the visiting side.

Malaysia is virtually out of the World Cup 2018, and is only playing for honours. Their next game would be next year agains Iran.
