New PJ Rangers FC player from Sarawak, Tommy Mawat Bada was named the only Sarawakian in the latest Malaysian Under-23 select squad coached by Datuk Ong Kim Swee.
The team of 30 youngsters would attend a centralized training at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya this coming 27th November to prepare for the final round of the AFC 2018 Under-23 Championship, which will be held beginning 9 January 2018 in Jiangsu, China.
According to a media statement by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), the centralized training would be held for three weeks in Kelana Jaya, before the team would fly to Mokpo in South Korea on 17 Diecember to continue their centralized training there for two weeks, this time until 30th December.
From South Korea, the team would head straight to Nanjing, China for the final eight day centralized training session, and reach the venue of the AFC 2018 Under-23 Championship on January 6th, 2018.
Kim Swee’s men are scheduled to play Iraq on 10th January and Jordan on 13 January respectively, before closing their Group C match against Saudi Arabis in Kunshan on 16 January.
If Kim Swee’s men top the group, they would the play in the quarter finals on January 20th, with the championship scheduled to end on 27 January 2018.
