The cruncher

KUCHING: Sarawak players have been instructed to play with no fear as they want nothing but to put a stop to the unbeaten run of Sime Darby at the State Stadium tonight. At stake will be a place at the top of the Premier League standing.

“Play with no fear and we have to attack as we need to score goals to win.“We’ve got to be fully concentrated on the attacking so as not to repeat our mistakes in our last match against KL SPA where we failed in our attacking moves in the first half.

“To score the goals, we must create good opportunities to win the match,” said Sarawak coach Robert Alberts on tonight’s match and how the game will unfold.

For the game, Junior Eldstal will get to start his first match as Alberts’ main tactical play is to use the half-Malaysian player’s height to stop the long balls which will be a feature of the Sime Darby game.

Although Bosnian new playmaker Muamer Silabasic is playing in midfield, he will be attacking the goal staying in the hole just behind Bobby Gonzales, the main man in attack.

Alberts said that both foreign player Guy Bwele and Junior will play as holding midfielders even though Bwele will roam and move forward or retreat in defence when the occasion warrants it.

Another influential midfielder Joseph Kalang Tie will need to move to the flank on the left while Zamri Morshidi will continue where he is left off in the last match by playing on the right wing.

As for the goals to come from, apart from Bobby, the other players like Silabasic looks prone to break his barren run of three matches without scoring as he came close playing as a midfielder.

Apart from him, Joseph Kalang and Zamri have scored while Bwele has also scored from set pieces while Junior also looks threatening whenever his aerial power is needed in attacks.

“The central midfield must be strong and one of the midfielders must move in the attacking steps with Muamer (Silabasic) who had yet to open score given the task to support Bobby in attack.

“In the two matches against UiTM and SPA we didn’t do well as the attacking moves were lacking and we must create more if we fancy the chance to beat Sime Darby.

“After this showdown we have to follow up in the next tough match away to PDRM whom I consider to be the next tough fixture in our remaining eight matches.

The Dutch coach also said that Shahrol Saperi is likely to make way for Junior in the match as the stage is set for Sarawak to score a great victory as they have a full squad to pick from.
