Sabah new head coach Vjeran Simunic has said that he believes Sabah has what it takes to be like Kedah, referring to the Premier League side Kedah’s glory in the Malaysia Cup this season.
The 62-year old coach has disclosed that his current Sabah squad consist of 80 percent Sabahans but he also stated that he is looking forward to signing a few players from the interiors of Sabah, provided they make the cut.
Careful in his promises, Simunic hinted that he is looking at a mid table finish next season and he hopes to build from that to achieve more as the team progressed.
As for now, the team known as the Rhinos are only left with five senior players after many left for greener pastures at the end of this season.
Simunic has signed a one year deal with Sabah, and takes over from Azraai Khor who left after a month at the job. Meanwhile, Sabah Football Association (SAFA) has also announced that James Wong and Hassan Sani would also play a role in forming and coaching the new Sabah team.
