The Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) showcased a list of new sponsors for their coming 2016 season today and it came with quite a surprise.
While the usual names such as LSC, Starsports, Merdeka Palace, HSL, Marina Parkcity, Shin Yang and Ibraco are typical to Sarawak football sponsorship, the inclusion of the Sarawak State Government’s logo as one of the sponsors in yesterdays Press Conference is something unusual, especially since they have not been featured prominently lately, preferring to stay low under the radar.
It is not known how much the Sarawak State Government is pouring into funding the Sarawak football team this year, but it is a known fact that the FAS does receive grants for their projects every year for the development of the football in Sarawak.
We however believe that the Sarawak government is paying more attention to elevating Sarawak’s football this season as Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem is an avid football fan whom had attended numerous Sarawak home games before and after he was elected as Chief Minister.
