The real reason why Sarawak couldn’t sign Ryan Griffith was shared to us later tonight by Sarawakian Astro Arena host, Dayang Zainatull Aqma through her twitter account.
According to the TV host, more fondly called as Atul, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) rules clearly states that a foreign player under the Asian slot must either play football for the first division of his country, or play for the national team of his country.
Football pundits close to SarawakCrocs have also confirmed the ruling as they said that the news of Sarawak Football Association (FAS) trying to sign Ryan must have an exterior motive, with some saying that it was to help hike the players profile locally.
That said, it is now very clear that Ryan does not qualify to play as an Asian import as he had previously played his football in China, and he does not feature in the main team of Australia.
With the transfer deadline closing near for Sarawak FA to sign their imports, it is still very much anyone’s guess who is on the short list of the Crocs to fill the two vacant slots available.
