In an interview with online portal aargauerzeitung.ch, Patrick Gerhardt, Sarawak’s most likely new signing has made claim that he had to leave his previous team in Iraq for security reasons.
According to the interview, Patrick had to leave Iraq as the situation there was out of control, in which he claims that bombs were continuously exploding during his stay and could be heard from his hotel, his team’s training pitch and a nearby shopping mall. The midfielder claims he saw fragments of glass at one time as a cause to some sort of explosion, believe to be a bomb.
Nonetheless, the new signing at Stadium Negeri further claims that the owners of his previous club, the Al Zawraa, were generous, and that Iraqis in generallove football.
But despite that, Patrick felt he needed more security and hence why he decided to leave.
Patrick’s short stint in Iraq caught SarawakCrocs.com’s attention, and we are glad to have found this article which explains why the 29-year old had a short time with his last club in Iraq.
The Liberian is undergoing a medical examination this week to make sure he is fully fit to be signed as a member of the Crocs.
