The first home game for Sarawak in the Malaysia Super League is set to be played at Stadium Negeri tonight with the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) again making the same plea to football fan groups to behave and ensure no illegal items are brought into the stadium during the matches.
According to Datu Sudarsono, the president of FAS, the team paid RM84,000 last year for fines imposed by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for fan behaviour, and he again stressed that such money could be better used to groom new local players.
In 2013, FAS also made the same plea to football fans, but it failed to curb disturbance in the stadium with Sarawak still ending up at the losers end with fines from FAM.
FAS also made a similar plea in 2014, but it too fell too deaf ears with the 2014 Sarawak football season ended with one of the worst stadium riots in Stadium Negeri which cause not less than two police vehicles to be burned.
