[MSL] Terengganu 1-2 Sarawak: A complete Sarawak affair

The Crocs stole the show tonight when they ended Terengganu’s good form at home by defeating the Turtles 2-1 with all Sarawak players getting on the score sheet.

Fresh from the 3-1 defeat in Kuching, the Crocs raced to Terengganu’s end to try their best to win the game.

They didn’t have to wait long because Ryan released a good ball in the box to unmarked Chanturu who didn’t make a mistake by heading it right into the back of the net for the Crocs to have a surprise lead in the game.

Stunned, the Turtles tried to re-trace back their tactical steps, but found the back line of Sarawak a little too hard to break with Gabor Gyepes marshaling the line.

Terengganu however didn’t give up with Zairo Anuar and Nor Farhan making energetic runs, mainly to the right of Sarawak’s defences which saw Hairol Mokhtar working hard through the night.

In the 36th minute, Terengganu finally scored the equalizer when a stunning in-swinger corner confused Fadzley Rahim, whom could only see the ball roll in his net, off stunned Junior Eldstal.

After the breather, Rashid Aya made way for national winger Ashri Chuchu, and the youngster didn’t disappoint.

His fluid runs caused massive headaches for the Terengganu’s back line, forcing Terengganu coach Abdul Rahman Ibrahim to make a substitution to curb the nippy winger.

The move saw Sarawak redirecting their attacks through Chanturu but the Kedah born winger failed to defeat goalkeeper Sharbinee Allawee.

Another attack by Sarawak saw Sharol Saperi’s shot on goal straight to the goalkeeper while Terengganu’s counter attack though Moustapha Dabo’s failed to get pass Fadzley’s feet.

In the 76th minute, a fantastic curling cross by substitute Mazwandi Zekeria (photo) missed Joseph Kalang, but Ryan’s quick reaction saw him pounce the ball into the back of Terengganu’s net, hence putting the Crocs yet again in the drivers seat.

With time fast running out, Terengganu pushed their artillery forward but a last ditch chance from a free kick hit the wall, and a follow up header by Moustapha missed the target by inches, just as the referee signaled the end of the game with Sarawak winners an exciting game.

FINAL SCORE: Terengganu 1-2 Sarawak.
