Kelantan became the latest victim of Sarawak’s emerging form as they went down 1-0 to the Crocs at their stronghold Kota Bharu.
With predictions heavily siding the home side, the Crocs wasted no time to show that they were not going to be trampled by Kelantan yet again as they immediately charged at Kelantan’s goal for a fruitless throw in by Ronny Harun.
Kelantan replied with an attack from Forkey Doe, but their weak shot on goal was easy for Fadzley Rahim (photo).
The game then shifted to the centre of the park with both sides exchanging fruitless attacks which were easy to curb by the defences of both teams.
18 minutes into the game Wan Zaharulnizam tested Fadzley again, but the Selangor born goalkeeper was ever ready to show safe hands.
The game then saw both teams arranging some very promising attacks, but their strikers failed to finish off anything with both Fadzley and Khairul Fahmi showing great reflexes.
In the second half, the Crocs picked up where they left off, and eventually silenced the rowdy crowd at Kota Bharu with a lovely chip into the net by Ryan Griffith.
The goal which was caused by Obinna Nwaneri poor header saw Ryan grab the loose ball, before chipping it over helpless Khairul Fahmi.
Sarawak almost doubled their tally through Ryan yet again, but his shot was tipped away by Khairul Fahmi for a fruitless corner.
Kelantan rushed to power more offensive moves in search of the equalizer but Forkey slammed a golden chance on goal into the side netting instead.
S Chanturu also had his moment to increase Sarawak’s tally but the great pass he obtained off Junior Eldstal was blocked for a fruitless corner.
Forkey again came close to equalizing moments later but on-form Fadzley was quick to grab the ball off Forkey’s feet.
With time fast running out, Kelantan threw their men forward, but the defence line led by Ronny Harun held tight with Fadzley making more acrobatic saves until the referee blew the final whistle, hence finalizing the fact that Kelantan have fallen to Sarawak for the first time since 2008.
