After years playing in the lower end of the Malaysia League, the team representing the historical Melaka will be returning to Malaysia’s top flight league, the Super League.
With only a point more from securing the Liga Premier, Melaka United kept themselves eight points clear of their latest rival, Johor Darul Ta’zim II which is second in the league.
The football scene of Melaka has had troubling days as the club fell into Third Division Liga FAM in 2011. The club stayed there for five season, before gaining entry into the second tier Liga Premier last season as champions of Group B of Liga FAM.
This time around, Melaka looks set to retain their impressive run by rejoining the big teams in the Malaysian football scene as they gain promotion to the Liga Super by becoming champions of the 2016 Liga Premier.
