Match fixing scandal hitting Sarawak FA?

Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) today confirmed that there has been rumours and reports made of match fixing allegations among players of their football team.

The allegations have been made by certain quarters after Sarawak FA allowed three goals in the last six minutes of the Sarawak FA versus Felcra FC, which eventually saw the home side concede the full thre points to the visiting Felcra FC.

FAS has instructed an internal investigation to be done on such allegations, saying in their latest press statement that they take such allegations seriously.

Team manager, Abdul Wahab has been entrusted to lead the investigation, and player and officials found to have been involved would be suspended from the team.

The move by FAS is also in accordance to FAS’s anti corruption pledge which was done earlier this year with the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).

If proven that there is indeed match fixing in the team, it would be a sad representation of Sarawak football in the 90’s which saw the team slump into what many call as the ‘dark era or Sarawak football”.
