After the recent narrow win of 1-0 against Newcastle and with only eight matches left in the league and five points clear sitting on top, Leicester might be the new champ that we are looking at this year. Shinji Okazaki gave them the league title with a spectacular overhead kick.
Before their recent match, Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri mentioned to a source saying that he was only targeting Europa League and denied the chances of bringing the title home. But with the game tactics and strategies they put in, coupled with the soaring of the fans during the games, it is obvious that they are not only chasing for the second tier competition of Europe.
From the very beginning, many have believed that they are going down to relegation straight and many were also skeptical about Leichester even qualifying for Europa League. But now Leicester is standing proud unbeaten in four matches and closing in to make history.
Former champions, Arsenal, Manchester City are all left behind in the league with their nearest foe, Spurs, five points behind. If one were to look at the remaining matches Leicester have, the title seems very likely with inconsistent teams such as Crystal Palace (March 19), Southampton (April 2), Sunderland (April 9), West Ham (April 16), Swansea (April 23), Man Utd (May 1), Everton (May 7) and Chelsea (May 15) lining up to throttle Leicester’s progress.
With a lot at stake, and the fact that Leicester might just make history, it would be wise to save the game dates above because if history was to happen in the English League, you’d want to be part of it.
