Kuching City FC today confirmed that Singaporean Aidil Sharin is now the official head coach of the club.
He would be Kuching City’s first foreign coach since the club made it to the Liga Malaysia.
The 46-year-old’s appointment was made known to the media in a simple press conference by the club earlier today.
Speaking to reporters, Kuching City FC CEO, Iswandi Ali Hassan told that the signing of Aidil took some time to conclude due to personal reasons, and that the club is now happy that Aidil has agreed to sign for Kuching City.
He also said that Aidil will be assisted by Firdaus Morshidi and Zulkarnien Poasa.
Iswandi said Aidil’s target would be to keep Kuching City clear from relegation this season, and if he succeeds, Kuching City will offer him a contract extension.
Aidil in response said he understood the task at hand and his role is to make the players believe the team can win as a team.
He also said that the whole team needs to be improved and believed that results will come once improvements are made.
“A lot of things need to be done. We have not won in a few games and my role is to make the players believe that they can win as a team.” said Aidil in the press conference.
“I can’t change a lot of things, but step by step, we will improve, and God willing, the results will come.”
“Football is all about improvement, and it is unfair to just blame one side. It takes time, but I believe with players commitment and support from the management, we can improve.” he added again.
Aidil was also optimistic that there is time to turn the team around, adding that The Cats will do as much improvements as they can, which include team bonding outings, and specific psychological training which would further sharpen the Kuching based side.
Aidil takes over from Irfan Bakti who had decided to leave the club after a sting of poor results.
