The Datuk Sim Kui Hian Cup 2017 football tournament, a Chinese football tournament based in Kuching, will be held on Sept 23-Oct 29 at Jubilee Ground football field.
According to the Borneo Post, eight teams would be competing for the Cup this year, including some from outside Kuching.
Defending champions Jinhua FC would be keen to ensure the title remains in their hands, while others like Nanyang FC, Saints FC, Ihub FC, Newbies FC and three new teams – Kuching Old Boyz FC, Dahfa Rhinos FC and Kelab Rekreasi Sukan Fox Marina, would be keen to ensure they can dethrone the champ.
All eight teams are divided into two groups, before they can advance into the quarter finals. Games will be played during the weekend until October 29 at Padang Jubilee.
To ensure more Chinese participation in the tournament, the organising committee had decided that each team must have a minimum of three under-18 Chinese players and at least one in the first 11. Two Bumiputra or foreigner will also be allowed in the line-up.
The tournament is jointly organised by SUPP Youth Central and Persatuan Jasmani Tiong Hua Kuching (KCPA). – SarawakCrocs.com
