CEO of Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP), Kevin Ramalingam yesterday confirmed that Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) can play in the Liga Super next season shall they remain as the two top teams in the Liga Premier.
Kevin’s comments have put to rest the issue of whether JDT II will gain promotion to the Liga Super if they finish second in the Liga Premier, with JDT Sports Director, Allister Edwards claiming previously that such promotion is unlikely.
Nonetheless, Kevin reiterated that the promotion can be declined by JDT II, in which FMLLP, as the manager of the Malaysian League, would then be force to promote the third place team in the Liga Premier.
Kevin also mentioned that JDT II and JDT will however not be able to play in the same league come 2018, which is the year when the club licensing and privatization would be strictly enforced in the Malaysia League. This was due to the fact that JDT II would be seen as a support team to JDT, and JDT II must opt to leave the Super League, or decline to enter the Super League entirely next year.
