Kuching City FC has signed 33-year-old former national and JDT striker, Hazwan Bakri.
According to Majoriti, Hazwan had rejected opportunities to play for Pahang and Perak with his decision to sign with Kuching City FC.
The Labuan born player was released by JDT and became a free agent prior to signing with The Cats.
Hazwan will don the number 33 with his new club, and Kuching City had also shared photos of the striker training with his new team mates.
During his prime, Hazwan was a household name in the Malaysian football scene, scoring seven goals for the national team.
With Kuching City, he is expected to fight hard to break the starting line-up with the team coached by Aidil Sharin already having Ivorian striker Tchetche Kipre, Ghanaian hitman Jordan Mintah, Timor Leste forward Pedro Henrique, and wingers Zharmien Asyraf and Nur Shamie Izsuan at his disposal.
Regardless, The Star reported that Hazwan is keen to make an impact with his new team and believes Aidil is the right person to help him get his career back on track.
He was quoted by The Star as saying he is now injury free and is keen to put Kuching City at the best position this season.
“Aidil wanted to bring me on board to help boost the team’s strikeforce. Seeing his work over the years, I’m keen to work with him,” said Hazwan in the report by The Star.
“Now that I am injury free, I want to regain my confidence and form. I also have a mission to help Kuching City achieve their best position this year.’’ he added on.
Kuching City is performing well in the Liga Super this season, standing at fourth after nine matches of the season.
