The Football Association of Sarwaak (FAS) today released a news informing fans about why they would not be using Stadium Sarawak as announced.
The news was made public on Sarawak FA’s spanking new website.
According the the article, FAS said that the field of Stadium Sarawak didn’t meet the minimum requirements set by the Malaysia Football League (MFL), and hence forced Sarawak FA to play their matches at Stadium Negeri instead.
FAS further explained that the flood lights at Stadium Negeri also do not meet the minimum requirements set by MFL, and hence the reason why Sarawak FA will need to play during the day instead of night.
Before this, Sarawak Sports Minister Abdul Karim announced that Sarawak would be moving to Stadium Sarawak, but MFL today confirmed that Sarawak would stay put at Stadium Negeri and play their matches at 4:15PM.
The late evening game would certainly jeopardize Sarawak’s gate collections as most fans are still at work during such hours.
Sarawak is set to play Pulau Pinang FA for their first home game in the Liga Premier 2019.
