Liga FAM football team, Kuching FA last Saturday and Sunday held their trials for football hopefuls, and the participation was very impressive.
Over 600 plus hopefuls from all over Sarawak came to the trials with hope to score a contract to play for the emerging football force based in Kuching.
According to Utusan Borneo’s report, the unexpected number of trial-list saw the management of the trial session, expand the trail area to also include Padang D.
The initial trial was scheduled to only happen on Padang C.
Kuching FA Deputy Manager, Ismail Ali Hassan was quoted to have said that the team is looking to pick 25 players for the coming season, and they would finalized the full list of players by next week.
Ismail also mentioned that some seven to eight players of the current Kuching FA team would be retained, giving a clear indication that out of the hundreds that came, only about 17 would eventually make the cut.
The huge turn-out is a clear indication that many Sarawakians are keen to play football professionally if the chance presented itself.
