Sarawak ran UiTM FC over late this afternoon when their strike force consisting of Bobby Gonzales and Zamri Morshidi buried the varsity boys 5-3 in an entertaining game.
The visiting Crocs wasted no time to push their offense line forward with both Bobby and Zamri menacing the UiTM backline with their countless raids. The likes of Joseph Kallang Tie and Azizan Baba supplied both strikers with a variety of options in the first few minutes of the game, with Junior Eldstal controlling the midfield as a defensive midfielder.
UiTM FC tried as they could to barrage their goal mouth, but soon found their efforts useless as Azizan Baba supplied Bobby with a nice pass for the Sabahan born player to coolly slot it in to put the Crocs ahead.
Barely regrouping, Bobby struck the back of the net again when Mazwandy supplied him yet another lovely pass to enable the Crocs to be 2-0 up in the 21st minute.
Sarawak didn’t rest their laurels as they piled the pressure on the UiTM defense, and Bobby ensure all the effort resulted in the third goal when he grabbed a good pass from Azizan to put Sarawak even further ahead.
After the breather, Sarawak dropped in momentum, and allowed UiTM to dominate play in the early minutes. However, the Crocs soon picked up pace and started their attacking mode yet again. A corner by Joseph that followed came out fruitless, and Zamri was caught offside in attempts to break the UiTM offside trap.
Minutes later, Joseph almost put his name on the score sheet, but his powerful effort was tamed by the UiTM goalkeeper. Ramesh Lai later fed Zamri with a neat pass, but his shot on goal was cleared by the defenders.
Zamri finally got the goal he was looking for to put Sarawak four goals ahead in the game. As if unsatisfied with the huge winning margin, Bobby made it 5-0 in favor of the Crocs.
In the late minutes of the game, UiTM managed to score three goals in the span of ten minutes after the home side was awarded a penalty kick, and allowed too much room in the final half of Sarawak.
The three goal spree by UiTM was however a little too late for the varsity boys to salvage the game as the Crocs went home with the full three points in their luggage.
Sarawak remain second in the league after the win, as Sime Darby smashed Sabah 5-1 at Likas Stadium.
