Transfer rumour: Akhmal Rizal set to Sarawak?

Former national hitman Akhmal Rizal is the latest to be tied with the Crocs. According to his twitter account, the Kedah striker will sign for his new team next week, which he revealed, is a Malaysia Cup semi-finalist.

While not much has been revealed, the news released by Akhmal do seem to sync with Sarawak’s latest news, which also revealed in local dailies that it will close a deal with a former Malaysian national player.

Akhmal was a household name in the Malaysian football scene with nine goals under his 22 international games. The striker’s highest credentials come from his brief stint at France’s RC Strasbourg.

Upon his return to the Malaysian League, he continued to shine with over 100 goals to show off with elite teams like Kelantan, Perak, Selangor and his home state Kedah.

Nonetheless, his form this season (2013) was rather luke-warm. The Jitra born player only converted trice from his 16 appearances, hence prompting some fans to questioned his possible signing for the Crocs as they say “Sarawak should not be too desperate to sign Akhmal whom they feel is already ‘out of form'”.
