The Sarawak SUKMA futsal team advanced to the SUKMA Sarawak futsal competition semi finals in style after defeating Wilayah Persekutuan 3-1 at Kota Samarahan Indoor Stadium on 19 August 2024.
Both teams played in front a bumper crowd which was biased towards Sarawak, creating an electrifying atmosphere favouring the home side.
Sarawak drew first blood in the match through an own goal by Wilayah Persekutuan’s Mohamad Nazrul Nizam’s in the 5th minute, before Awang Irfan made it two for the home side.
Wilayah Persekutuan narrowed the gap through a goal from Aisar Azhar in the 36th minute, but he added Sarawak’s advantage two minutes later through another own goal which benefitted Sarawak.
Both sides were not able to score from then on, resulting in Sarawak confirming their place in the semi finals of the SUKMA Sarawak futsal competition.
The victory meant Sarawak would now meet Perak in the semi-finals which is scheduled to be played at 9am on the 21st of August 2024.
