SUKMA Sarawak forms partnership with Kuching City FC

SUKMA Sarawak announced they had formed a partnership with Liga Super side Kuching City FC as part of their preparations for the coming SUKMA.

News of their partnership was carried out by local daily, Suara Sarawak which also reported that the partnership involved a series of closed training sessions at Stadium Negeri.

Stadium Negeri is the home of Kuching City.

According to the report, the SUKMA men’s team had already been collaborating with the Liga Super team since May 2024, with the SUKMA team able to take advantage of Kuching City’s ‘organized unit in football activities’.

The SUKMA football team consists of players under 21 years of age with some of Kuching City’s youth players also representing Sarawak through the SUKMA football team this time around.

The SUKMA Sarawak men’s football team is coached by Awangko Shahbudin with the team made up of players selected from the 2023 Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Cup/FAS-SSC League Championship.

Sarawak are drawn in group D of the football event competition with Wilayah Perseketuan, Perak, and Pahang.

In the 2022 SUKMA, Sarawak crashed out of the competition in the quarterfinals after a 2-0 defeat to Johor.
