SUKMA Sarawak 2024: Football Grouping and Historical Winners

The Sarawak SUKMA football team has been drawn in Group D in the up-coming SUKMA Sarawak football event.

According to information shared by the Official SUKMA Facebook page, the team will compete with Pahang, Perak and the Federal Territories for a spot in the next round, which will eventually see them have better chance at the illusive gold medal of the competition.

Group A will see Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan battle out for a chance for a chance at winning the ‘mother of all medals’ while Sabah, Johor and Silver medalist in the previous SUKMA, Terengganu, make up Group B.

Defending champions Terengganu, are in Group D with Johor and Sabah.

Sarawak last won the SUKMA football gold in 1990, failing to repeat the feat in later editions.

Since holding the games in 1986, the football gold medal for SUKMA has changed numerous times.

Pahang and Terengganu both share boasting rights for being teams which had won the football gold medal the most in the history of the games, having won it four times each.

Other teams, beside Sarawak, Pahang and Perak which had won the gold medal include Kedah, Selangor, Sabah and Negeri Sembilan.
