Sudarsono: “We are happy with FAM’s statement. Case closed.”

Sarawak Football Association (FAS) President Datu Sudersono was satisfied with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) statement in regards to the bribery claims over Sarawak FA which was widely reported in the papers yesterday.

According to Sudarsono, the issue was considered resolved and closed with FAM’s statement.

Apart from that, Sudarsono also stated that it was unfair to accuse players of taking bribes as it will put extra pressure on the players to perform.

When asked if he feels there is any truth over the news, Sudarsono said “I have full trust over my players, and I do not believe any of the players at Sarawak are taking bribes”, as he added that the players are indeed very committed to give something back to the fans through their good performance on the pitch.

Sudarsono also gave credit to the fans for his confidence in the players as he said “Look at our crowd. Do you think the players would want to disappoint them?”

FAM was quoted previously by several Semenanjung Malaysia based media as saying Sarawak FA is under investigation over bribery, with the national football body later coming up with a statement to deny such reports.
