It may have been a team win, but new signing import Muamer Salibasic stole the show by displaying why Robert Alberts wanted him so badly in the squad.
The 2-0 win over Perlis was an extremely good display of Salibasic’s ability in bossing the midfield as he showcased his ability in ball control and passing throughout the match.
Sarawak started the game eager to win, with the game quickly shifting to Perlis half from the start. In the early minutes of the game, the Crocs made a couple of dangerous shots on goal through Bobby Gonzalez and Joseph Kallang Tie. However, Perlis stood firm with their goalkeeper making numerous important saves.
Perlis, resigned to long ineffective shots from outside the Sarawak goal were also soon forced to make two substitutions when two of their players injured themselves in the game.
As the game progressed, Sarawak started re-inforcing their attack as goalkeeper Saiful Amar made a direct pass from his goal to Joseph who blasted a shot which was pushed out by the goalkeeper for a fruitless corner for the Crocs.
Moments later, Salibasic’s vission saw him help Sarawak engineer the Crocs first goal, which saw Joseph having no mistake if fitting it at the back of the net.
The goal sparked Sarawak’s momentum as they mounted more attacks for the second.
Azizan Baba started to get his game right and joined in the attacking momentum for the Crocs. However, his effort, together with Joseph, Bobby and Salibasic were all off target, keeping the score still stuck at 1-0 favouring the home team.
Minutes before the interval whistle, Salibasic found himself defeating his marker, while dribbling the ball on the left side of the goal. The Bosnian stopped for a while, looked up, and swayed in an accurate cross right to awaiting Bobby who had no problem burying it in the back of the net to put Sarawak two goals ahead.
The second goal marked the end of an exciting first half, clearly dominated by Sarawak.
After the breather, Sarawak continued their punishing pace in attacking Perlis. Bobby almost managed to put his name on the scoresheet soon after the restart, but the header he made following a pass from Joseph was easy for the Northern Lions goalkeeper.
This was followed by a good exchange from Salibasic and Joseph, which ended with Bobby failing to connect to the final ball.
The game grew slower after that with both sides looking tired, and the visiting team still only allowed to do long shots by the Sarawakian defenders.
As full time came, it was clear that Perlis will not be able to come back in the game, hence allowing Sarawak yet another victory in the Premier League.
