KUCHING: Sarawak head coach Robert Alberts believes that Friday’s match against Sime Darby FC will be a turning point for the Crocs.
Playing at home in the Stadium Negeri, Alberts knows his team will do all their best to win.
“We are only trailing them by two points and should we win, we will definitely top the Premier League,” he said.
He added that it is a no-brainer that Sarawak must keep winning all their league matches after the match, regardless of a win or not.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s postponement of Sarawak’s match against KL Pos Malaysia FC gave the Crocs more time to prepare for the clash with Sime Darby FC.
The match was postponed due to the 13th General Elections last Sunday. But to Alberts, it was not a big deal as all teams had their matches posttponed.
“For now, we will focus on Sime Darby FC and everything is on track and I think the players are highly-motivated to win the match,” he said.
Currently topping the league with 36 points, Sime Darby FC are the team to beat.
Like Sime Darby FC, Sarawak have so far remained unbeaten in the national League.
Alberts is optimistic that his players have learned from the shortcomings of the previous match when Sarawak had to come from behind to beat SPA Putrajaya FC 2-1 in front of their own fans.
Sarawak face Sime Darby FC this Friday at the Stadium Negeri. Kick off is 8.15pm.
