Sarawak on track to make it to Super League

KUCHING: Sarawak coach Robert Alberts was happy that his players performed up to expectations in last Saturday’s Premier League 2-0 win over Perlis.

Alberts only wished that his team could have scored more goals.

“In the second half, we played too many long balls. We also did not press harder to score more goals,” he said.

Before the 1-1 away draw against Kedah previously on April 12, Sarawak shared the same points with Sime Darby FC in the league table but were second only on goal difference.

Now with the Kedah and Perlis matches behind them, the crocs are two points behind Sime Darby.

They still need to reduce the goal difference with the league leaders if they succeed to draw level on points in the near future.

“The good news is that we are eight points above Kedah, who are fourth place. With that, I am optimistic that we can gain promotion and play in next season’s Super League,” Alberts added.

The coach was also full of praise for Sarawak’s new import signing Muamer Salibasic.

He shared that he has finally signed the right player for the team and he is also expecting Salibasic to win over fans.

“He played well last night. The fans seemed to cheer every time that he’s on the ball,” observed Alberts.

Sarawak will next face UiTM FC away this Friday.
