Samarahan proved they are a team to reckon in the Liga Rakyat after they defeated Betong 4-2 with ten men at the Betong Sports Complex yesterday.
The team led by Hassan Jahit struggled to overcome a gusty Betong side, but with Mohd Hadra Bakri opening the scoreline in the 17th minute.
Mohamad Asrullah extended Samarahan’s lead in the 33rd minute before Betong pulled one back through Nazreen Ismail five minute before time.
Betong continued to show a touch of class and Nazreen yet again put the ball in the net to mark the all important equalizer of the game.
With Betong now level, Samarahan pressed harder to ensure they remain undefeated in the league, but the excitement caught the better side of Mohd Zubir Mohd Lia as he was shown marching orders for a second yellow card.
Despite playing with ten men, Samarahan continued their push forward and was handsomely rewarded when Mohd Asrullah bagged his second goal of the game, putting his side ahead yet again.
With time fast running out, Samarahan put the final nail in Betong’s coffin with a powerful effort from Sahrul Abdul Malik ensuring Samarahan travel home with the full three points.
Samarahan will next entertain Kapit, while Betong will travel to Sarikei.
