The Liga Malaysia has ended for the season, and the New Straits Times has named Sarawak defender Ronny Harun as one of the players who is seen as ‘the best in the league’.
According to the paper, Ronny “The 33-year-old is consistent, strong and seldom makes mistakes in the heart of defence. Harun had memorable matches this year, but he could not save Sarawak from relegation. He is now looking for a new team after being released by Sarawak recently.”
While the named players in NST’s best 11 players for the Liga Super do not obtain any sort of rewards from the daily, it is a personal achievement for Ronny, especially since he is one of the four non-JDT players in the list.
The ten other players listed are JDT’s Izham Tarmizi, Marcos Antonio, S Kunalan, Fazly Mazlan, Naxso Insa, Gonzalo Cabrera, and Mohammed Ghaddar, Thiago Fernandes from Felda United, Shazwan Zainon from Kedah, and Nor Azam Abdul Azih from Pahang.
Ronny is no stranger for being picked by among the best defenders in Malaysia, having been picked by numerous other magazines for his huge role in Sarawak FA.
It is nonetheless sad to note that Ronny has been released by the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) after the management decided to go all Sarawakian local for next season.
