Sarawak strong centre-back Ronny Harun has earned himself a call up to Ong Kim Swee’s national side as the Sabahan was listed among a few other national regular players such as Bunyamin Omar, Farizal Marlias and Norfarhan Mohamad to go to the Philippines for a friendly match.
Joining Ronny from Sarawak FA would be young midfielder Junior Eldstal who has been described as Ong Kim Swee as ‘vital’ to his plans for the national squad.
The inclusion of Ronny and Junior in the Malaysia national team, also called Harimau Malaya was released through Astro Arena tonight, and had delighted Sarawak fans.
Many have taken to social media to congratulate Ronny who they feel is one of Sarawak’s best ever defender in years.
Previously, Sarawak fans have recently questioned why Ronny was not called to join the national squad despite his impressive performance in the Malaysian League, with Ong Kim Swee known to be very careful in his selection of players for the national squad.
It is therefore believed that Ong Kim Swee’s latest decision to finally call up Ronny justifies the quality in Ronny as a complete defender.
In a tweet reply to a fans congratulatory message, Ronny however declined to comment much on the call-up, stating he has yet to get any formal communication from FAM.
Also called to the national squad is Sarawak’s ex-striker Bobby Gonzales.
