Sarawak secured the vital one point against Johor Darul Ta’zim last night after they played a discipline game against the newly crowned Asia Cup champions.
The sole point meant that the Crocs now march on to the Quarter Finals of the Malaysia Cup, setting an important date with rivals Selangor whom are also eyeing success in the Malaysia Cup.
In last Saturday’s game, the Crocs went behind in the 37th minute when Amirul Hadi defeated his marker to fool Iqbal Suhaimi to put the home team ahead.
The Crocs stepped up their game in the second half of the game but efforts from Tommy Mawat failed to find the back of the net.
In the 67th minute however, Patrick Gerthardt made the 100-odd Sarawak fans at Larkin jump of joy as he powered a lovely strike towards goal, defeating Farizal Merlais.
Sarawak tried to improve the goal tally, but JDT proved a hard nut to crack until the final whistle.
Despite that however, the one vital point was enough to put the Crocs through the next round of the Malaysia CUp despite ATM winning 4-3 in Paroi.
